OAU, ELIZADE VARSITY SIGN MOU

In line with its determination to collaborate with notable institutions both within and outside Nigeria to achieve its Mission and Vision, Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife on staff and student exchange, training and collaborative research endeavor.

 

Speaking while signing the MoU, the Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede commended Elizade University for hitting the ground running. He affirmed that the private university has distinguished itself with detailed curricula and practical-oriented teaching.

Prof. Ogunbodede, who informed that his University would always be selective in its choice of partners, expressed delight at partnering with Elizade University, saying an old university like OAU could also benefit immensely from a fast growing private university like Elizade University.The Professor of Dentistry who warned older universities to sit up to avoid being upstaged by some private universities, stated that Elizade University is well positioned to make meaningful contributions to the development of the country.

While expressing the hope that the relationship would be mutually beneficial, Prof. Ogunbodede said that the partnership would enable the two institutions to compare notes with a view to finding areas of complementing each other.

Also speaking, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Elizade University, Prof. Theophilus Fadayomi thanked the Management of the Obafemi Awolowo University for recognizing the efforts of the young university in Nigeria’s education sector. He said that the adoption of special ways of doing things by the University has endeared it to many institutions and organizations both within and outside the country.

He informed that the MoU was one of the several working memoranda of understanding already signed with high flying universities across the globe. He enlisted some of the institutions already partnered as University of Computer Science and Skills, Lodz, Poland, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, United States, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, United States and Federal University of Technology, Akure, among others.

Prof. Fadayomi reiterated that the universities would join hands to ensure that the partnership achieves the purposes for which it is formed.
