Welcome to Civil Engineering Department
What We Do
Welcome to the Department of Civil Engineering. This profession is a World problems solver which encompasses: design, construction, and maintenance of physical and naturally built environment works such as: roads, buildings, bridges, dams, canal, e.t.c. it is a Professional study that derive the intellectual reasonability of a student and developing them to provide solutions for physical and natural environmental problems across the World. This program is designed to improve the student’s knowledge and skills to become World problem solvers in Civil Engineering. It mandates at least one semester or summer-long internship to satisfy degree requirements. Students use these experiences to apply theories they’ve studied in the classroom, learn practical skills, and gain insight on a particular area of the field they may be interested in pursuing. These opportunities also serve students well for future employment, allowing them to network with other professionals, receive mentorship from an established civil engineer, and possibly leverage their experience into a job after graduation. The department is well-equipped with a professional, brainy, ingenuous, self-deniers and well experienced academic and technician staffs (local and international academics and industry) whom are ready to work. A lot of equipment (universal testing machine, hydraulic bench, e.c.t) and facilities (internets, conducive room for learning, e.t.c) has laid down to increase the students skill and practical knowledge. Graduates of the Civil Engineering program at Elizade University should solve Civil Engineering problems within a greater societal context by doing the following: i. Exhibit character and decision-making skills embodying professionalism and ethical behavior. ii. Apply knowledge, strong reasoning, and quantitative skills to design and implement creative and sustainable solutions. iii. Engage in life-long learning to meet evolving engineering challenges facing society. iv. Exhibit strong communication, critical thinking, interpersonal, and management skills as leaders and contributors in the civil engineering profession. Graduates of the Civil Engineering program should attain the following outcomes: i. An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering. ii. An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data. iii. An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability. iv. An ability to function on multidisciplinary teams. v. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems. vi. An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility. vii. An ability to communicate effectively. viii. The broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context. ix. Recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning. x. Knowledge of contemporary issues. xi. An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice. .
