Associate Professor of Climate Change and Agricultural Economics
Dr David Olufemi Awolala is an Associate Professor of Climate Change and Agricultural Economics. He has a professional background in agricultural economics, climate change economics, and environmental governance.
He is the Country Director for Nigeria at the African Group of Negotiators Experts Support (AGNES) Kenya, and the immediate past Director, Climate Policy and Technical Services responsible for coordinating activities interfacing consolidation of evidence in decision making and policy implementation of climate action. He has twenty years of professional experience in teaching, research and consulting.
He specializes in the development issues with research focus on climate risk and vulnerability, impact assessment, adaptation finance, market assessment, financial analysis, production economics, poverty and gender analysis, econometrics and statistical data modelling.
Dr Awolala has successfully implemented a number of competitive multi-year research projects funded by the DAAD, IDRC-FCDO, UK-GCRF Research and Innovations, Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, and the German GMBF.
Dr Awolala has good record of publications in peer-reviewed academic journals and a member of many professional organizations. He is a climate negotiator under the UNFCCC policy processes and an IPCC-AR7 expert reviewer, and outline scoping author. He is a Senior Research Associate at CEFES, Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin
