Patrick Tolani, PhD

Biography

Patrick Tolani, PhD, is a Nigerian renewable energy, public policy and international development professional and Chief Executive Officer of Community Energy Social Enterprise Limited (CESEL).

He leads the organisation’s mission to expand access to clean, affordable and sustainable energy for underserved and off-grid communities across Nigeria.

With over 25 years of leadership experience, he has served as Chief Executive of the Oxfordshire Equality and Human Rights Council (UK), Principal Adviser for Trade and Development with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Timor-Leste, Partner at Vale Partners, Executive Director of the Institute for Oil, Gas, Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development at Afe Babalola University, and Executive Director of the Centre for Energy Studies at Igbinedion University.

Dr. Tolani holds a PhD in Public Management and is pursuing a second PhD in Project Management. His research focuses on participatory frameworks in development, cross-sector partnerships, renewable energy, sustainability and governance.
