Eco-Climatologist
Dr. Shakirudeen Lawal is an eco-climatologist whose research examines how climate extremes, particularly drought, reshape terrestrial ecosystems across spatial and biological scales. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental and Geographical Science from the University of Cape Town and an MPhil in Plant Sciences from the University of Cambridge.
He has worked with the U.S. Forest Service to model drought-induced tree mortality across forests in the southeastern United States.

Dr. Lawal has authored over fifteen peer-reviewed publications and has been invited to serve as a Contributing Author for the IPCC's Seventh Assessment Report (AR7), Working Group II. He also convenes a session on African hydroclimatology at the AGU Fall Meeting.
