About B.Sc Cyber Security

Philosophy

The philosophy instituting universities in Nigeria commonly is to build national capacity to move the country from its current state as a developing nation to that of an innovative and developed nation, through technological development that pushes development,and develop high level manpower that will create job and wealth. Precisely, the proposed Department of Cyber Security will build capacity and develop human capital to the highest level possible through pragmatic and dynamic training,research in the area of cyber security to safeguard the Internet, create job and wealth, and reduce unemployment and poverty.


Aim and Objective
  1. create in students the awareness and understanding of the security challenges accompanying the widespread adoption and usage of information technologies, and raise their interest in working in the field of cyber security;
  2. provide a broad and robust foundation in cybersecurity knowledge and practical skills in securing computer systems and networks from breaches and detecting weak-links in personal, and enterprise systems;
  3. develop in students a range of transferable applicable skills of information technology to all aspects of human endeavours; and
  4. Give an appreciation of the current state and future directions of technological advances in security.

Admission Requirements

The entry requirements shall be at least credit level passes in five subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Physics to form the core subjects with credit in at least two relevant science subjects, at Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent such as NECO, WAEC, and NABTEB. In addition, an acceptable passes in the University.

Candidates with two A level passes (graded A-E) at the Advanced Level in one or more relevant subjects (Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics) may undertake a three-year programme into 200-level.

UTME Subject

English, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry

UTME:

Five O’Level credits in NOT more than TWO sittings including English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science

Direct Entry:

(i) Two ‘A’ Level passes in Science including Mathematics and Physics;

(ii) National Diploma in Computer Science with at least an Upper Credit from a recognised University or Polytechnic;

(iii) NCE in Computer Science/ Maths; Computer Science/Physics; Maths/Physics with at least Credit Pass in both
