The programme is designed to develop through research, economic and efficient means and methods of building within the social cultural and physical context. The students are, therefore, expected to be conversant with research in design theory, human behaviour patterns and perception, building to:
a.) produce creative and competent professional who are capable of meeting the challenges of creating comfortable human environments;
b.) explore the rich cultural, traditional and locally available resources and technologies of the country and adapting them to efficient and effective use;
c.) provide an educational process which recognizes and is sensitive to human needs and the wise use and conservation of resources;
d.) provide a comprehensive education such that the graduate is able to plan, design, build and commission, maintain and coordinate the allied professional inputs in the development of the human environment; and
e.) Provide an educational structure that is flexible and able to meet the needs of architectural education in Nigeria.
The overall national philosophy/purposes in Architectural Education can be stated in general terms to:
i. To produce competent, creative, skilled and versatile individuals capable of facing a broad spectrum of challenges associated with the design and construction of spaces for humans and activities;
ii. To produce Architects capable of understanding and solving complex technical and environmental problems as well as applying the knowledge to tackle and co-ordinate other related professional inputs in the development of the environment; and
iii. To produce public-spirited persons that are intellectually mature, socially responsible and environmentally sensitive.
The specific objectives of the Architecture programme at Elizade University are:
i. Offering a high-quality of professional education aimed at establishing core principles and fundamental architectural knowledge, an awareness of, and aptitude to design, coordinate and carry out projects;
ii. Equipping the student with an advanced comprehension of the environmental, social, economic and technological contexts underlying design and construction in the built environment;
iii. Inculcating in the students, adequate knowledge, attitudes, specialised skills and character qualities that will upon their graduation enable them to effectively integrate the knowledge of allied professions, co-ordinate and control the design and construction processes;
iv. Creating enabling environments that will foster an active interest in research and development in architecture and related fields;
v. Provide the student with entrepreneurial knowledge and skills to enable him/her to be self-reliant.

a. UNIFIED TERTIARY MATRICULATION EXAMINATION (UTME)
A Candidate seeking admission into the Architecture programme of Elizade University should obtain five (5) minimum credits at the School Certificate or GCE Ordinary level at not more than two (2) sittings in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and any two of Fine Art/Technical Drawing, Economics, Chemistry, Geography, or Biology.
Also, an acceptable level of performance at the UTME is required for admission to the programme. The candidate is required to take the following subjects at the UTME: English Language, Mathematics, Physics&/Geography and any one of these: - Chemistry, Economics. Biology or Fine Art.
b. DIRECT ENTRY
A candidate who fulfils the O’level requirements in (a) above and who holds an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Certificate in Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Fine Arts, Horticulture, Forestry at Upper Credits level or JUPEB A-LEVEL Studies Certificate (Mathematics, Physics&/Geography, Biology and Visual Arts) may be considered for direct entry into 200 level. (Fine Arts or Technical Drawing may not be required at this level).
A candidate who fulfils the O’level requirements in (a) above and who holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificate in Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Fine Arts, Surveying, Horticulture, Forestry at Upper Credits level may be at advantage to be considered for direct entry into 200 level. (Fine Arts or Technical Drawing may not be required at this level.)
