Fadare Olalekan Shadrach is a senior lecturer in the Biological Sciences Department (Microbiology option). He is an enthusiastic scholar who is passionately involved in environmental and public health microbiology. He is motivated to expand scientific understanding and improve community health. He earned a bachelor's degree in microbiology from Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ogun State, a master's degree in biomedical sciences (medical microbiology) from Middlesex University in London, and a doctorate in environmental and public health microbiology from the University of Benin in Edo State. His expertise focuses on the crossroads of microbiology and public health, where he investigates the complex relationships between probiotic bacteria, enteric pathogens, prebiotics, and human gut health. In the domain of public health microbiology, his research addresses issues at the interface of microorganisms and human health. He conducts clinical studies to understand how changes in the gut microbiota may contribute to the development, progression, or prevention of diseases. Olalekan is also involved in projects examining enteric pathogens, antibiotic resistance in environmental reservoirs, and the development of strategies to mitigate microbial risks in public spaces.
