NUC Teams Applaud Elizade University Serene Environment, Assess Readiness to Commence Programmes in Public Health, Soft-Ware Engineering, Mechatronics, M. Phil. & PhD Architecture

Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State — Teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC) have commended the serene and conducive learning environment of Elizade University as the institution intensifies efforts to expand its academic offerings with market-relevant programmes.

The four NUC resource verification teams, during a joint courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Philip Oguntunde, assessed the University’s preparedness to commence new programmes in Public Health, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, as well as M.Phil. and PhD degrees in Architecture.

Speaking on behalf of the teams, Professor M. M. Garba described the University’s tranquil ambiance and well-ordered environment as ideal for impactful teaching, learning, and cutting-edge research.

He emphasized that while the verification exercise is aimed at ensuring compliance with national standards, the overarching goal remains the enhancement of quality in Nigeria’s university system.

Responding, Professor Oguntunde attributed the University’s distinctive aesthetics and culture of excellence to the vision and unwavering standards of its Founder, Michael Ade. Ojo, noting that every project undertaken is driven by a commitment to outstanding performance.

He affirmed that the proposed programmes are strategically designed to build on the University’s track record of academic excellence and to meet evolving national and global manpower demands.

According to him, the expansion is both timely and necessary, given the acute global shortage of skilled professionals in critical sectors.
“Public Health has become indispensable across all spheres of human endeavour, while the built environment urgently requires highly skilled experts for sustainable development. At the same time, the accelerating pace of the digital economy continues to widen the demand for competencies in Mechatronics and Software Engineering,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor added that these disciplines are rapidly emerging as key drivers of the global knowledge economy, offering immense opportunities for innovation, employment, and wealth creation.

Also speaking, the Registrar, Mr. Omololu Adegbenro, noted that Elizade University remains firmly on course to consolidate its status as a world-class institution, committed to producing proactive, resilient, and globally competitive graduates.

The NUC verification exercise marks a significant step towards the University’s formal rollout of the new programmes, further reinforcing its strategic positioning within Nigeria’s higher education landscape.
