Elizade University Shines as Vice-Chancellor Oguntunde Bags Prestigious Leadership Award
Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, has once again reinforced its growing reputation for academic excellence and transformational leadership as its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Philip O. Oguntunde, was honoured with the Outstanding Leadership Award by the Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), FUTA Branch.

The prestigious award was presented during activities marking the 15th Anniversary Celebration of OWSD-FUTA, in recognition of Professor Oguntunde's exemplary leadership, remarkable contributions to education, and unwavering commitment to institutional growth and national development.

Presenting the award, President of OWSD-FUTA, Dr. Adeleke Mosunmola Lydia, described Professor Oguntunde as a visionary leader whose impact extends beyond the walls of Elizade University.

According to her, the Vice-Chancellor's dedication to excellence, integrity, innovation, and human capital development has continued to strengthen the university while positively influencing the wider society.

The award ceremony attracted distinguished academics, researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the country who gathered to celebrate the achievements of women in science and discuss pathways for strengthening scientific innovation and entrepreneurship in developing nations.

A major highlight of the event was a keynote presentation by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Fortune, Igbotako, Ondo State, Professor Ayo Olajuyigbe, who delivered an insightful lecture on the theme: "Scientific Excellence and Relevance: From Vision to Venture."

Professor Olajuyigbe challenged researchers and scholars to move beyond theoretical discoveries and embrace innovation-driven solutions capable of addressing societal challenges and stimulating economic growth.

Also speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Professor Adenike Temidayo Oladiji, emphasized the need for greater collaboration among women in science.

She observed that women scientists face unique challenges and must continue to work together to overcome barriers and achieve greater representation and impact within the scientific community.
