Elizade University has partnered the Federal Ministry of Labour & Employment in Collaboration with National Electronic Labour Exchange (NELEX) and Migrant Resource Centre (MRC).
The Forum provided students and staff with valuable information on Labour Migration pathways and study opportunities, particularly to Germany and other choice destinations.
The Vice-Chancellor of Elizade University, Professor Kayode Ijadunola, while receiving the visiting team in his office thanked them for the collaborative effort aimed at shaping the life and future of not only the students but the staff as well.
He described the collaboration as very unique and of intrinsic value to Ivory Towers linkages with great opportunities in expanding the frontiers of knowledge, creativity and innovation.
Deputy Director of Labour, who is Head Migrant Resource Centre, Lagos, Mrs. Maureen Ovie said one of the key objectives of the Ministry of Labour is strengthening regional and global cooperation on migration governance to enhance safe and regular migration in alignment with migration frameworks and human rights standards.
She said the aim is also to discourage irregular migration by providing youths/migrants with the right information and knowledge for making informed decisions and choices concerning their migration.
Dr Austin Ezejiofor, Head of Component, Regular and Regional Migration, GIZ Nigeria and ECOWAS talked on reduction of unemployment through job/skill matching, networking as well as educational and employment opportunities in Germany and other European Countries.
He said sustainable partnership will be explored with Elizade University to ensure effective and continuous delivery of migration programmes for greater opportunities
He encouraged the youths on the need for them to acquire educational and technical skills that are relevant to global needs.
Director, Academic Planning of Elizade University, who is also the HOD Mass Communication, Dr. Wole Adamolekun who represented the Dean, Faculty of Humanities, Social & Management Sciences, said there are avalanche of opportunities that exist in the global space, stressing the need for students, youths and staff not only to combine academic with transformative skills but also hone the skills for global competitiveness.
Local Co-ordinating Chief, Dr. Omolola Olarinde- Olomola thanked the visiting team for the opportunity given to Elizade University.
