Elizade University Professors Ranked Among World’s Top 2% Scientists

Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, has again reinforced its reputation as a world-class institution with two of its distinguished faculty members listed among the top 2% scientists globally in the 2025 Updated Science-wide Author Databases of Standardized Citation Indicators compiled by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier.

 

The honourees are Professor Festus Mayowa Adebiyi, Dean of the Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences, and Professor Lateef Babatunde Salam, a senior faculty member of the University. Their inclusion in the elite global ranking underscores Elizade University’s commitment to excellence in teaching, groundbreaking research, and innovation with global impact.

 

Professor Festus Mayowa Adebiyi is a renowned scholar of Chemistry whose research expertise spans Analytical/Environmental and Petroleum Chemistry solutions. He has published extensively in high-impact journals, contributing to global knowledge on energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. Professor Adebiyi has been adjudged one of the top 2% Scientists in the World in 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 as published by Elsevier and Stanford University. He has supervised several masters and doctoral students. He is a member of Royal Society of Chemists (FIMS), UK and is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Project Management (FAAPM) USA, Institute of Management Specialists (FIMS), UK and Institute of Policy Management Development, Nigeria (FIPMD). His recognition affirms his consistent impact on global scientific discourse.

 

Professor Lateef Babatunde Salam is a Professor of Microbiology at Elizade University, and leader of the Environmental Metagenomics Research Group. With nearly two decades of teaching and research experience, his work focuses on microbial biotechnology, metagenomics, and biodegradation, particularly how pollutants shape microbial communities and antibiotic resistance in tropical environments. He has supervised numerous postgraduate and undergraduate projects, served in key academic leadership roles, and actively contributes to global scholarship through research, mentorship, and professional engagements. Beyond teaching and research, he contributes to the scientific community as a reviewer for numerous leading journals and actively engages with professional bodies such as the Nigerian Society for Microbiology, American Society for Microbiology, and the Society for Applied Microbiology (UK).

 

Commenting on the recognition, the Ag. Vice-Chancellor of Elizade University, Professor Sunday Babatunde Adeyemo, congratulated the two scholars, noting that their achievements reflect the University’s strong research culture and its drive to nurture academics whose works resonate beyond Nigeria.
